TRUST

And the word study continues…I’ve had this one brewing for a couple of weeks, but hadn’t had time to write…AND although God had given me a glimpse, He needed to allow a couple more things into my life to prepare me for this post.  Today’s word is…TRUST!

It’s been a difficult couple of weeks in our world!  Two totaled vans in 9 days, but nuts and bolts and metal are replaceable!  What matters is that, in both cases, all humans are fine and safe!  The deer and the vehicles didn’t fare as well, but the people are all fine!  As I’ve thought back over all this, God’s hand is so evident in all of it!  His provision of people to haul us around, get Bailey to work, etc., has been obvious.  There was even a paperwork error that worked in our favor…God-orchestrated!  There have been numerous, glaring reminders that my God supplies all our needs…sometimes even before we know we have one!

The tendency for me, as a believer, is to start to allow my heart to spiral downward a little, to wallow in a bit of, “Oh, that devil!  Look what he’s doing to us, now!  The hits just keep coming!”  And pretty soon, I’ve invited myself to a lonely pity party!

But this time, I heard the whisper, the still small voice.  What if some of this isn’t the enemy after all, but God, Himself?  That can be a hard pill to swallow, because what WE want is for God to be that genie in a bottle and fix everything that ails us, in our way!  But I remember, when we were adopting Grace, and I said to Lyle, “Do you ever feel like God is kicking out every safety net you thought you had, to force you to trust in Him?”  That’s where I am, at this point in time, once again!  He is kicking out my safety nets and reminding me that His grace is sufficient, and that My God will provide all my needs, according to His riches in Christ Jesus!

But, like Alladin said to Princess Jasmine, “Do you trust me?”  That’s a loaded question when it’s being asked by the Creator of the universe!  Trusting is a verb, a process, a decision, an act of the will (sometimes, a painful one!), an intentional taking captive of every thought!  As I pondered this, He gave me an acronym!

T–Taking

R–Refuge

U–Under

S-Sovereign

T–Truth

We must choose to take refuge in Jesus and in His truth!  Trust in the Lord, and do good.  Then, you will live safely in the land and prosper.  Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desire. (Psalm 33:4)  So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (Galations 2:20).  Finally, Jesus tells us…Do not let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God, and trust also in me (John 14:1).

Are you trusting Him, today?  Are you laying your burdens, cares, and problems at His feet and allowing Him to handle them His way?  I am finding that when God gives me a blog post to share, it’s because He wants to change my heart by showing me what His Word says about where I’m walking!  Such is definitely the case, today!

Lord, in Jesus’ name, I pray that you would have your way in my life, in the lives of my family and loved ones, and in the lives of every person who reads these words You have given me, today!  Jesus, may we lay our lives at your feet and trust you with every area of them, no matter what!  Help us quiet our hearts before you and listen (and obey) your still, small voice!  In Jesus’ name, Amen!

This song quiets my heart, and I knew I was supposed to share it today!  May God bless, encourage and strengthen each of you, according to your needs and the desires of your hearts, today!
