The very first area he prayed over for the kids was their minds. This makes perfect sense. So many of our problems in this world begin between our ears! What does the Bible say about how we think? Look them up, and commit them to memory. Sometimes, we simply need to be reminded of the importance of our thoughts!
- As a man thinks…so is he (Proverbs 23:7).
- Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34).
- We are to have the mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5).
- We are to think about things that are pure, lovely, noble, of good report, and worthy of praise (Philippians 4:8).
- Take every thought captive to the mind of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
What Can We Pray?
When we train our minds to think like Jesus, we will begin to live the lives He created for us to live! Here are some things God showed me to pray about our minds. We can pray that our minds…
- think pure thoughts
- think true thoughts (sometimes, we must pray that God would clearly show us the lies we believe and help us combat those thoughts with the truths of His word.)
- think clear thoughts. “Let our yes be yes and our no be no.”
- think thoughts that help harness our emotions
- think simple thoughts ( we often over-complicate situations and make them more complex than they are.)
- think positive thoughts
- think loving thoughts (It’s easy to think nasty or unpleasant things about others and about ourselves. We are to love others as we love ourselves which is hard for some of us who need to learn to love ourselves so we can love others!)
Jesus, anoint our minds. Help us take our thoughts captive and honor you with what we think!. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
