Yesterday, I attended the first-day kickoff assembly at my daughters’ school. This is one of my favorite events of the year! The kids get a pep talk from the principal, pastor, and teachers. They learn the theme for the year and get to meet new kids who are joining the school family. This year’s theme is “win within.” It might be my favorite one, so far.
It was one of those “God has me here for a reason” moments. Those show up when I least expect them, in odd ways. So, “Bishop” was standing at the front of the sanctuary for his portion of the kickoff. He announces this “thing” he wants to do for the students. He said he’d done it with his kids and grandkids. Sometimes, people say things in passing that have life-changing results. This was that kind of comment for me, and I want to share it with you over the next several days.
First, he challenged the kids to wake up every morning, put their hands on their heads, and pray a blessing over their minds for God to anoint the way they think. Then, he methodically went through their important parts–eyes, ears, hearts, hands, and feet–and told them to pray a blessing over each part every day.
On the surface, this is a cute idea, but think about this for a minute! Do you realize the POWER of this?! Do you realize that if you ask God to bless and use for His glory everything that you think, see, believe, touch, hear, and go to, every day, how much more effective you will be for His kingdom?! And that’s just for ourselves! What if we pray this way over our spouse, our children, our grandchildren, spouses of kids and grandkids, loved ones who are struggling in various areas of life, etc? Can you imagine the power that would unleash?
So here I was with this set of prayers as a springboard. Do you remember doing “word webs” in school? I always loved them and also used them with our girls when we homeschooled. The word you are writing about is in a circle in the center of the web. Then, there are lines shooting off the main word. Each line has a circle on the end of it for another word.
These word studies God has given me are much like a word web! He shows me a word. Then, He downloads meanings I couldn’t imagine on my own, into my spirit and asks me to share them. Over the next several days, I’ll be sharing what He revealed about how to pray and be transformed in each of these areas. I pray God will use these new revelations about praying over our senses to transform our minds, lives, and families!
