The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 10:10
ABUNDANT: (adj.) Existing or available in large quantities; plentiful; more than enough.
Until yesterday, I confess, I have been very short-sighted about this word. I guess when I think “abundant,” I tend to think material possessions, money, etc. But…just like He has done with every other word He has given me, God is opening my eyes to much more! As it turns out, there are many things that He promises to give us abundantly…and they aren’t “things”!
So what does God’s Word say about what He gives abundantly? I’m glad you asked! Here’s what He is showing me!
Blessings: And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2 Cor. 9:8)
Comfort: Praise be to the God and Father of our LORD Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves received. (2 Cor. 1:3-4)
Faith: He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.” (Luke 17:6)
Grace: But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2Cor. 12:9)
Mercy: We are not consumed for His mercies never fail. They are new every morning. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Peace: And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:7)
