A is for Able

 

 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.  Ephesians 3:20-21.

Do you have a favorite Super Hero?  How about a favorite super power?  Do you wish you could fly?   jump over tall buildings?  go into flames without being burned?  shoot a Bull’s eye on a target?   lasso a wild animal with your bare hands? And if only you had that super power?

Have you ever thought of Jesus as a super hero?  Have you ever wondered what God can do…what He is able to do?  Well, are you ready for this?  He can do Anything that is good!  He can not lie, or sin, or change…but if it’s good, He is able!  He has every ability He needs!  He has every ability we need Him to have!

I looked up verses about God being able.  I found one site that said it had 100 verses about God being ABLE!  That’s a bunch of verses, guys!  Sometimes, we think way too much about what we want, or what we think we need, or what prayer God doesn’t seem to hear.  Wouldn’t we be happier if we focused our attention on what He CAN do?

According to the verses I found, God is able to…

Save us completely, Hebrews 7:25                               Quiet us with His love, Zeph. 3:17

Heal us, Matthew 9:28                                                    Supply every need, Phil. 4:19

Deliver us from evil, Psalm 50:15                                Keep us from stumbling, Jude 1:24

Grant us strength in hard times, 1 Cor. 10:13            Guard and protect us, 2 Tim. 1:12

Fulfill all of His promises, Romans 4:21                      Comfort us, 2 Cor. 1:4

Have you ever had need of any of these “super powers”?  You have them!  They are yours, if you are in Jesus!  All you have to do is ask Him!  Look up these verses when you need them, and pray them (read or memorize) over yourself, your family, your life!

Lord, Jesus, thank you for all that you do and all that you are!  Thank you for meeting all my needs.  Thank you for knowing what I need and for having the power to care for me.  Thank you for loving me more than any human ever could!  Lord, help me to remember to cry out to you every time I need you!  Help me to remember that no need is too big or too small or too difficult for you!  In Jesus’ name, Amen!
