ABC Devotions for Kids

I have hidden your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.  Psalm 119:11

Welcome to ABC Devotions for Kids“!

Did you know that God wrote the Bible just for you?  He created you in His image, to be more like Him, but He didn’t just create you and then turn you loose to live however you want!

You see, life on earth is a journey, and God gives us His Word as our road map.  He teaches us how He wants us to act, think, work, live, give, love, and speak.  All we have to do to better understand what He wants us to know,  is to read the Bible and do what it says!  It’s simple…but it isn’t always easy!  Sometimes, we let our minds wander off or do other things!  So, we have to choose, every day, what our focus will be…and God wants our focus to be HIM!

Now, the Bible is a BIG book with a LOT to say.  Sometimes, when I think about the whole Bible, it makes me nervous!  In fact, sometimes, it used to make me so nervous that I stopped reading it!  I can’t learn from something I don’t read!

Think about it this way…did you learn all the math facts and spelling words that are in your head right now…all at once?  Of course not!  You learned it a little bit at a time.  That’s what God wants us to do with His Word, too!  If we learn it a little bit at a time, we will look up several years from now, and be surprised at how much we have learned about God!

When my daughters were little, we homeschooled them.  We studied a letter each week to learn things like colors, letters and numbers, shapes, body parts, foods, community helpers, etc

This section of my blog is called “ABC Devotions for Kids,” and it’s just for you.  Each week, we will learn about a word that starts with a certain letter of the alphabet…making our way from A to Z!  Each devotional reading will have at least one scripture verse that you can learn, and what God has been teaching me about this word!  It will also end with a prayer to Jesus, to draw us closer to Him!

I will be doing a section for your parents, too, called “A to Z Devotions.”  Feel free to follow me so you will see when the new devotion is added, each week!  Be on the lookout for “A is for Able”!  It’s coming, soon!

Jesus, thank you for today!  Thank you for this new adventure, and thank you for each child who is joining me on this exciting journey into your Word!  Open our hearts to hear your voice.  Open our eyes to see you more clearly!  Open our minds to understand you better!  In Jesus’ name, Amen!
